I started going to Boot Camp shortly after I turned 40, still struggling to lose the same 15 pounds I'd been struggling to lose for years. My 3rd child was 16 months old at the time, and I was more than ready to get my body back and get strong again. I went 2-3 times a week and followed the meal plan when I was able to. Over the course of 4 months, ALL the weight I lost was FAT! I have toned up significantly, especially in my upper body. I am putting on clothes that I haven't worn since last winter, and am amazed at how well they fit now! I have confidence, strength, and endurance that I never knew I had... or forgot a long time ago that I had. I can do push-ups, the normal way; I can do squats till the cows come home; I am more flexible than I've ever been; I am starting to run - and signed up to compete in a 4-mile run in the spring - and I'm not a runner! Never did I think I'd willingly get up at 5:45 in the morning twice a week to get my behind kicked with a bunch of great people, but I'm doing it! It is addictive!

Three words come to mind when I think about Move It, Be Fit: professional, motivating, friendly, and fun. Okay - that was four words, but who's counting? I have enjoyed exercise and working out for several years, but recently realized that weaknesses in my core were causing pain when I ran. I began training with Jonas, and within a few weeks, my hip pain was gone. Jonas's workouts have helped me reach a new level of fitness that I wasn't achieving on my own. The classes are also really good for both beginning exercisers (Total Body Conditioning) and advanced fitness levels (Bootcamp). Great location, very reasonable prices - well worth checking out.

I first discovered MIBF through purchasing a Boot Camp coupon with a friend. We both started attending the classes that were taught by Joao. Our first reaction was, "Oh no! What have we gotten ourselves into?" We enjoyed the first Boot Camp classes so much that we purchased another coupon to do another set of Boot Camp classes. The Boot Camp classes were tough, but we also enjoyed them. It got to the point that we started looking forward to going to our classes twice a week. I have struggled with my weight most of my adult life, and have been on almost every diet out there. I was even to the point of considering having Lap Band surgery to help me. I decided to check into MIBF's plan to see what they had to offer. Little did I know, all I needed was somebody to push me and give me the direction I needed to to get my weight off of me. The perfect place to pursue my fitness goals! I do personal training with Jonas, and he is great at pushing me when I would otherwise probably give up, but also modifying an exercise if I just can't physically do it. His ability to both make me work hard and joke with me to keep my mind off how hard something may be makes the experience rewarding and fun. All of the trainers I have seen there, and the owner, John, have these qualities and it makes for a great environment. I also really like that many of the exercises mimic the ways my body moves in everyday life and use multiple groups of muscles rather than isolating such specific muscles like you might do when using weight machines at a typical gym; I feel like I get a much more well-rounded workout this way, and it feels better for my body. I'm so glad I found out about Move It Be Fit and have made a commitment to improve my fitness with them!

I'm seeing Joao three times per week for an hour at a time. At times the workouts seem difficult, focusing on muscle groups that obviously haven't been worked much in years, as well as doing exercises to improve my balance. At other times, the workouts seem quite easy, almost like I'm getting no benefit whatsoever. However, the days that immediately follow workouts, whether difficult or easy, are chock full of the soreness that accompanies gains. I can tell that I'm getting benefits from Joao's training. And those benefits appear to be cumulative. Move It Be Fit provides an unbelievable health and fitness experience at a bargain price! The studio is clean and in a convenient location, and the staff are always courteous and knowledgeable. John and the other trainers are genuinely interested in improving the overall health of their clients and are incredibly consultative with their clients in helping them reach their fitness goals. I have been attending the beginner Yoga class at Move It Be Fit regularly for about nine months now. I had never done yoga before. Over the past nine months I have noticed such a difference in my flexibility and in the way I feel overall. After seeing orthopedists and physical therapists and struggling with lower back and knee discomfort for more than a year, I won a drawing for personal training sessions with John Hinkle. I came pretty close to not taking advantage of those training sessions, but with John's gentle encouragement and flexibility with scheduling, I showed up for my first session. Making the commitment to train with John has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for my health and well-being. At times I have often wondered what life would be like without my meetings with my personal trainer, John Hinkle. At 67 years old, I would not be walking 18 while toting my bag. Prior to working with John, my shoulder range of motion was extremely limited. My neck would not turn from center, neither left nor right, and the pain in my neck was sharp and steady. After a few months with John, the pain was gone and the golf club could be swung. That was just the start. My energy levels have increased and life is fuller. By the way, I also got my wife's approval for a new set of clubs!

I have not felt this strong since I was in my 20's! John has designed a personal training program specific to my needs. I had a difficult time staying motivated to go to the gym. I was doing the same exercises over and over again. The most exciting part about training with John is I never know what to expect. He always has some new and creative exercise ready to challenge me and push me to the next level. One day we may be boxing and the next I may be hopping on a BOSU. Then there are the killer (in a good way!) kettle bell workouts. John has also helped me pay more attention to what I eat. He has me keep a food journal which he regularly reviews. He even encouraged me to sign a contract limiting my sweets and ensuring I get plenty of exercise the days I am not training with him. Last but not least, there is the Z. I have always had problems with my feet, ankles, and knees. Z Health, which John promotes, has decreased the pain I feel when I am physically active. John continues to amaze me with his knowledge of all things fitness!

I am a young, dedicated soccer player for the Triangle Futbol Club. When I badly rolled my ankle playing in Germany, I was upset and confused. I had a new season and fitness testing coming up soon, and I was a little bit panicked. Luckily, Dad ran into John while exercising on the Washington Duke trail. It was arranged so that I would see him twice a week, in order to get my ankle back to top form and get me back into shape. John immediately won my favor by directing the questions to me, asking about my condition and expectations, and only afterwards asking my Dad about his expectations. Once I said I wanted to get back in shape, John was never afraid to push me, sometimes harder than I thought I could go. But he also made it fun, and let me laugh and somehow enjoy myself. Those were some of the quickest hours of my life. I was having too much fun to realize that I was being worked almost to exhaustion, and then I was too happy to care. With John's coaching, I was able to pass my fitness tests and quickly get back into the game.

If you really want to get fit, and are serious about it, Move It Be Fit is the place to go. They provide a great atmosphere that is fun and very comfortable in which to work out. The staff is always knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Plus you get very focused attention to help you with your needs, and exercises tailored to you. Specific. With plenty of encouragement. Look, when I started, I could do two sit-ups and one push-up. My shoulders and knees were not able to do much before they failed. Now, only four months later, my shoulders and knees are getting stronger and barely bother me. And push-ups...? I did 50 just tonight with barely a twinge. I can't say I like working out just for the sake of working out, but here, I don't mind it.

In the fall of 2009, I hit an all-time low with respect to fitness, and an all-time high with respect to my weight. My clothes weren't fitting, and simple things like going up a flight of stairs or playing with my dog left me winded. My efforts to start doing cardio and work out regularly would last a few weeks or a month, then I'd fall back to old habits. I joined MIBF in January, based on a client's recommendation to my friends, looking for something more structured that would help me
meet specific goals, and stick to it.

The experience has been great! My trainers come up with different workouts every week, so it never gets boring. They make each workout a little more challenging, not so much that I can't handle it (even though I might think I can't!), but enough that I'm seeing real progress. The trainers are not "drill-sergeant" types; they have no sympathy for any whining they hear, but they are always fun and encouraging. I guarantee I wouldn't consider doing 88 push-ups at home, but when that's what is included in my workout at MIBF, somehow I manage to do it. After a long day at work, it's really nice not to have to think about "what did I do last time, what should I do today?" - I can just show up and do what I'm told, take a real mental break, and reap the benefits.

I'm not sure what the records at MIBF show, but I've lost more than 20 pounds in the last 5 months. I can chase the dog around the house and yard now, and wear him out before I'm worn out. The lower back pain I was experiencing before I started is gone. I am shopping in my closet for outfits I haven't worn in at least a year, packing up clothes that are too big for me - and looking forward to more of the same 6 months from now!
